Build your mark

Choose the 97/129/EC material, set the colour, then download it as SVG or PNG. Composite parts get the C/ convention; the default gives you the official artwork.

France requires official Triman/Info-tri artwork from your PRO; deposit containers need operator-issued marks (DPG, Palpa…). Generic marks here cover 97/129/EC identification only.

Getting the mark right

Three things that trip people up

Composites take C/

A multi-material component is marked C/ plus the abbreviation of the dominant material — a beverage carton is C/PAP 84, not PAP 84. Getting this wrong sends the pack to the wrong stream.

Voluntary is not universal

The code is voluntary EU-wide, but mandatory on-pack in Italy, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Malta, and conditional in Latvia. Selling into those markets makes it a legal requirement, not a nice-to-have.

SVG for print, PNG for screens

The SVG never turns blurry, so it is the one to send to a printer or place in artwork. Use PNG, at 1024 px or more, only where a bitmap is required.

Generate these marks for your own components.

Pick a material, get a print-ready SVG or PNG, or batch-generate a whole artwork sheet from a spreadsheet.
